General fees
Donr does not charge general fees such as:

- Extra campaign fees;
- Access to certain solutions (all solutions are available as standard when the charity signs up for a Donr account);
- Hidden fees (such as dormancy fees or minimum/maximum raise limits).

Text Giving fees
Donr's processing fee for a donation made via our Text Giving fundraising solution is 5%. This breaks down as follows:
Gross donation | £10 |
Donr fee | £0.50 |
Net payable to charity | £9.50 |
Gift Aid claimable on donation | £2.50 |
Potential total value of donation | £12.00 |
Occasionally, a donation via Text Giving may fail (more information on why this may happen is available here). When this happens, the affected supporter will be offered the opportunity to make a donation by card instead. This incurs an extra card payment processing fee of 1.4%+£0.20 (charged by Stripe, Donr's third party card payment processing partner). This breaks down as follows:
Gross donation | £10 |
Donr fee | £0.50 |
Stripe fee | £0.34 |
Net payable to charity | £9.16 |
Gift Aid claimable on donation | £2.50 |
Potential total value of donation | £11.66 |
For one-off donations, the supporter will be charged the donation amount plus one standard network rate message (typically between £0.10 and £0.15). For monthly donations, the supporter will be charged the donation amount plus two standard network rate messages, during initial set-up, then the donation amount for every month thereafter, until the monthly donation instruction is cancelled.

Text Raffles fees
There is no charge made to the charity for a supporter entering a raffle via text. However, if the supporter chooses to make an optional donation to the charity via our Text Raffles solution, during the entry process, a charge of 5% on the donation amount applies. This breaks down as follows:
Gross donation | £10 |
Donr fee | £0.50 |
Net payable to charity | £9.50 |
Gift Aid claimable on donation | £2.50 |
Potential total value of donation | £12.00 |
The supporter will be charged one standard network rate message (typically between £0.10 and £0.15) each time they send a text message to one of Donr's shortcodes. If they choose to make an optional donation during the entry process, they will also be charged their chosen donation amount.

Giving Pages fees
Donr's fee for processing a donation made via a Giving Page is £1, no matter whether that donation is £2 or £100,000. When making a donation, a supporter is given the option to cover this fee themselves.
We introduced a flat £1 fee in consultation with charities using our platform. As the average donation through Giving Pages is significantly higher than via text, we found that the 5% pricing model we use for Text Giving and Text Raffles didn't work for Giving Pages. We therefore set a flat £1 fee to ensure that our fee is proportionate, transparent and fair.
Additional fees from third party processors may apply, these fees vary depending on the donation method as follows. These fees are set by the payment processors themselves, and are separate from Donr's flat £1 fee.
Payment method | Payment processor | Fee (set by payment processor) |
Credit card, debit card, Apple Pay and Google Pay | Stripe | 1.4% plus 20p |
PayPal | PayPal | 2.9% plus 30p |
Should a supporter make a donation of £30 via credit card and choose to cover Donr's fee themselves, this would break down as follows:
Gross donation | £30 |
Donr fee (covered by supporter) | £1 |
Stripe fee | £0.62 |
Net payable to charity | £29.38 |
Gift Aid claimable on donation | £7.50 |
Potential total value of donation | £36.88 |
Gross donation | £30 |
Donr fee | £1 |
Stripe fee | £0.62 |
Net payable to charity | £28.38 |
Gift Aid claimable on donation | £7.50 |
Potential total value of donation | £35.88 |
Text Journeys fees
Bundles of Text Journeys credits must be purchased by the charity, in order to send messages en masse to opted-in supporters via Donr's Text Journeys communication solution. Bundles are priced as follows:
Credits | Price (£0.04 plus VAT per credit) |
500 | £20 (plus VAT) |
1,000 | £40 (plus VAT) |
5,000 | £200 (plus VAT) |
10,000 | £400 (plus VAT) |
25,000 | £1,000 (plus VAT) |
Credits can be bought from within the Donr Dashboard, as long as your organisation has had its bank account details verified by Donr:
Donr Dashboard > Purchase credits > Choose credits bundle > Input card payment details
Once you've made your purchase, a receipt will be emailed to the email address you use to sign into the Donr Dashbaord.
One message sent is one credit spent, unless the message's character count (including spaces) is over 160 credits. Messages of 161-320 characters will be charged two credits to send.
The supporter is not charged for receiving messages sent via Text Journeys.

Mobile Lotteries fees
From each £2 entry into a Mobile Lottery, a charity will receive £1.02.
The remaining 98 pence is used to cover the costs of running the lottery. These costs include prizes, transaction fees, taxes, licensing fees and other administrative costs.
Why does Donr need to charge these fees?
Donr is a for-profit, tech-for-good organisation. As we are not a charity, we cannot receive donations and so we need to charge these fees to cover overheads related to providing these fundraising and communication solutions, such as staffing, technology and other bills. We believe our fees are clear, reasonable and competitive with other providers of similar services.
